IBS 양자나노과학연구단(QNS) Theory Team

QNS는 양자나노과학 분야를 선도하는 세계적인 연구기관 중 하나입니다. 구성원 개개인의 기여를 중요하게 생각하는 수평적인 조직문화를 바탕으로 국제적이고 협력적인 연구 환경을 조성하고 있습니다. 연구단의 주 업무 언어는 영어이며, 전체 구성원의 약 절반은 한국인, 나머지 절반은 다양한 국가 출신의 국제 구성원으로 이루어져 있습니다.

IBS 양자나노과학연구단(QNS) Theory Team에서 연구단의 연구데이터 관리(Research Data Management), 연구 컴퓨팅 인프라 및 과학 연구용 IT 시스템을 주도적으로 담당할 Staff Scientist를 모집합니다.

본 포지션은 QNS에서 생성되는 연구데이터의 체계적인 구성, 저장, 백업, 접근 및 장기적 관리를 지원하며, 향후 연구단 내부 연구데이터 저장 및 관리 시스템 구축에도 참여하게 됩니다. 또한 주요 연구 컴퓨팅 시스템을 유지·관리하고, 연구단 공용 IT 인프라가 안정적이고 지속적으로 운영될 수 있도록 기술적 지원을 담당합니다.

주요 업무

1. 연구데이터 관리 (Research Data Management)

  • 연구데이터의 체계적인 구성, 저장, 백업, 접근 및 장기 관리를 위한 시스템과 절차 구축 및 운영
  • 연구단 내부 연구데이터 저장-관리 인프라 구축 계획 및 도입
  • QNS 연구자를 위한 연구데이터 관리 가이드라인 및 관련 문서 작성

2. 연구 컴퓨팅 및 연구관련 IT지원 (Research Computing & Scientific IT)

  • QNS 연구 컴퓨팅 클러스터, 연구용 워크스테이션, 데이터 스토리지 및 백업 시스템, 라이선스 서버 등 연구 컴퓨팅 인프라 운영 및 관리
  • Linux 기반 시스템 관리, 연구용 소프트웨어 설치 및 설정, 시스템 장애 진단 및 문제 해결
  • 연구 컴퓨팅 환경과 관련된 사용자 기술 지원 및 기술 문서 관리

3. IT 기술협력 및 관리 (Technical Coordination & Continuity)

  • 연구단 IT 관련 업체, 이화여자대학교 IT 및 시설관리 부서 등 유관기관과의 기술적 업무 조율
  • IT 및 컴퓨팅 장비 도입을 위한 기술 사양 검토 및 구매·수리·교체 관련 기술 자문
  • 시스템의 안정적인 운영과 업무 연속성을 위한 SOP, 시스템 구성 정보, 유지보수 기록 등 기술 문서 관리

추가지원업무 :  QNS IT 지원 및 운영 (Operational IT Responsibilities)

  • 워크스테이션, 사무용 PC, 노트북, 태블릿, 모니터 및 관련 장비의 효율적인 활용을 위한 기술 자문, 설치 및 지원
  • 공용 컴퓨터, 프린터, 대형 포스터 프린터, 회의 및 Zoom 시스템, 키오스크, 디스플레이 및 기타 디지털 장비의 안정적인 운영 지원
  • 공용 IT 인프라 및 장비에 대한 사용자 안내 및 교육

지원 자격

1. 필수 자격

  • 컴퓨터공학, 물리학, 공학, 정보시스템 또는 기타 관련 기술 분야 학위 소지자
  • 서버, 데이터 저장 및 백업 시스템, 네트워크 및/또는 연구관련 컴퓨팅 등 연구 IT 인프라 관련 경험
  • Linux 기반 시스템에 대한 지식 및 시스템 문제 해결 능력
  • 기술적 문제를 파악하고 해결 방안을 모색할 수 있는 능력
  • 원활한 커뮤니케이션 및 기술 문서 작성 능력
  • 한국어 및 영어로 원활한 업무 수행이 가능한 자

2. 우대 사항

  • 연구 컴퓨팅 클러스터, 저장/백업 아키텍처(DAS, NAS), 가상화 또는 접근 권한 관리 관련 경험
  • 연구데이터 관리 또는 기관 차원의 데이터 인프라 관련 경험
  • 대학 또는 연구기관 근무 경험

근무 조건

  • 계약기간: 1년 (연단위 계약, 평가에 따라 연장 가능)
  • 급여: 연구단 내부 규정 및 경력에 따라 결정

Staff Scientist – Research Data Management & Research Computing

Theory Team, IBS Center for Quantum Nanoscience (QNS)

QNS is one of the world-leading research centers in quantum nanoscience. We foster an international and collaborative working environment with a flat organizational culture that values the contributions of every team member. English is the primary working language at QNS, with approximately half of our members from Korea and the other half from countries around the world.

QNS is seeking a Staff Scientist to join the Theory Team and take primary responsibility for the Center’s research data management, research computing infrastructure, and scientific IT systems.

The role will support the organization, storage, backup, accessibility, and long-term management of research data across QNS, including the possible future development of an internal research data storage and management system. The Staff Scientist will also maintain key research computing systems and provide technical continuity for shared IT infrastructure across the Center.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research Data Management

  • Develop and maintain practical systems and procedures for the organization, storage, backup, access, and long-term management of research data.
  • Support the planning and possible implementation of internal research data infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance and documentation on research data management for QNS researchers.

2. Research Computing & Scientific IT

  • Maintain and support the QNS research computing cluster, workstations, data storage and backup systems, license servers, and related scientific IT infrastructure.
  • Provide system administration, software configuration, troubleshooting, user support, and technical documentation.

3. Technical Coordination & Continuity

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for shared IT systems and coordinate directly with Korean vendors, Ewha IT, Facilities Management, and other service providers.
  • Provide technical specifications and advice for IT equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, maintenance records, and user guidance to ensure long-term operational continuity.

Appendix : Operational IT Responsibilities


The Staff Scientist will also provide technical support and coordination for QNS shared IT infrastructure, including:

  • Technical advice, setup, and support for workstations, office PCs, laptops, tablets, monitors, and related equipment to ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Support for shared computers, printers, the large-format poster printer, meeting/Zoom systems, kiosks, displays, and other digital devices to support the reliable operation of shared IT systems.
  • User instructions and training for shared IT infrastructure and equipment. 


Qualifications

  1. Required
  2. Degree in computer science, physics, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field.
  3. Experience with research IT infrastructure, including servers, storage and backup systems, networking, and/or scientific computing.
  4. Knowledge of Linux-based systems and practical system troubleshooting.
  5. Ability to independently identify technical problems and coordinate solutions.
  6. Strong communication and documentation skills.
  7. Professional working proficiency in both Korean and English.
  8. Preferred
  9. Experience with research computing clusters, storage/backup architectures (DAS, NAS), virtualization, or access management.
  10. Experience with research data management or institutional data infrastructure.
  11. Experience working in a university or research institute environment.


Employment Conditions

  • Contract Period: 1 year (renewable annually)
  • Salary: Based on internal regulations and prior experience
